The Hunter Wine Country Markets held in the grounds of DeBortoli Wines are one of the best markets in the region, with friendly store holders who are more than happy to have a chat about there beautiful handmade wares. There is something for everyone, then pop into the cellar door for a well deserved tasting session of some of the fantastic wine on offer.

The historic Hunter Valley is Australia’s oldest wine growing region and produces wines with character and personality. The region is especially famous for its wonderful Semillon wines that have the ability to age gracefully over many years.

The De Bortoli winery is at the gateway to the Hunter on Wine Country Drive directly opposite Broke Road, the first winery you encounter as you begin your journey into Hunter Valley Wine Country.

The 34-hectare property includes an on site winery and barrel where the 100% estate grown fruit is processed. The company also has another vineyard – Murphy’s Vineyard – in nearby Rothbury which has plantings of mature Semillon vines planted nearly half a century ago.

The cellar door, open daily from 10am-5pm, is a welcoming place where you can taste superb Hunter Valley vintages, including award winning mature Semillon and delicious local Shiraz.

We regularly feature over 20 wines on the tasting list which changes monthly, and includes many wines from our other vineyards, including the Riverina, King Valley and Yarra Valley. Also on tasting everyday is our world class selection of Premium Fortified wines and the iconic Noble One Dessert wine. A great range of Sparkling wines and Moscato’s are also a permanent feature on the tasting list.

Our two Cellar door managers have over 40 years experience in the wine and food industry between them, and whether you are a novice or a seasoned wine drinker you are sure to find the Hunter Valley cellar door educational and entertaining!

Just a couple of hours from Sydney, the burgeoning Hunter Valley with its numerous attractions including galleries, restaurants, golf courses, health spas, wineries and major concerts and events is well worth a visit. Our Cellar Door staff will be happy to show you our award winning Hunter wines.
